Lead Network Engineer

Lead Network Engineer Join the Leidos Digital Modernization (DigiMod) team in accelerating information technology in a changing world where we modernize critical networks for government and commercial customers. The Lead Network Engineer will be the primary networking expert responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating solutions aligned to current and emerging requirements, supporting LAN architecture design, sustainment, modernizations, and system integrations. Travel 25% Travel required. Remote work available; candidates must travel to Hampton, VA and other customer sites as needed. Clearance Required Must be a US Citizen and hold an Active Secret clearance. Primary Responsibilities Provide overall network engineering support for a broad range of programs as well as planning, designing, and evaluating network components. Specify network architecture, identify technical capability gaps, evaluate and recommend new technologies, and perform needs assessments. Develop, recommend, and implement approved network configurations according to local change management processes. Perform duties that may include monitoring, installation, cabling, modification, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, testing, and servicing of network equipment. Draft and review technical documentation and communicate technical requirements. Participate in testing to ensure requirements are adequately met. Develop and facilitate training of the operations team on newly deployed equipment. Support the project lifecycle for infrastructure and technology changes. Foster an environment of collaboration with the government customer. Basic Qualifications BS degree and 12–15 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree and 10–13 years of relevant experience (additional years may be accepted in lieu of a degree). Extensive experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting TCP/IP networks, including hardware (switches, routers), software (operating systems), network management systems, NAC, QoS, network services, and distribution systems. Experience with network administration, network security, networking standards, protocols, and NIST/FISMA controls. Ability to convey complex networking, security, and risk concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong problem‑solving, analytical, communication, and people skills. Experience in IPv4 and IPv6 implementation. Experience with Cisco Catalyst Command Center/Network Assurance (CCC/DNAC) and Identity Services Engine (ISE). Understanding of Zero Trust principles, including network segmentation best practices and experience implementing C2C. Current 8140‑compliant credential. Preferred Qualifications Experience with an Air Force or Department of War customer, or prior military experience. Experience designing, implementing, and managing SDN, virtualization, and SDA solutions. Experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms and other networking tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, and automation tools. Experience in network planning, design, and management strategies for an enterprise Wireless LAN, including advanced wireless site surveying, security design, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework and the Government Authority To Operate process. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $116,350.00 – $210,325.00.
