We focus on all phases of transportation including high-consequence material, difficult-to-transport cargo, oil-industry projects, and hazardous cargo from conception to production. You possess strong communication skills, demonstrate a high level of discretion, and can work efficiently with internal teams, external vendors, and international partners.We offer a casual office environment and offer a hybrid schedule with one work from home day per week after you've been acclimated with the company.## SummaryThe Senior Accountant (Contract) will support the finance department through day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, and process support during a temporary coverage period of up to six months. This role will assist with maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting both U.S. and international accounting functions.## Role and Responsibilities### Accounts Receivable (A/R) Responsibilities* Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.* Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.* Perform account reconciliations including bank, credit card, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliations.* Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.* Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed.* Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and variance analysis.* Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.* Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.* Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation to external auditors.* Support international accounting activities and intercompany transactions.* Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.* Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and financial reporting support.* Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, and leadership teams.* Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting requests as assigned.* Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and company information.### Core Competencies* Organizational Skills* Attention to Detail & Accuracy* Problem Solving & Critical Thinking* Technical Capacity (Accounting Software & Excel)* Communication Proficiency* Time Management* Collaboration* Accountability & Dependability## Education and Experience* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.* Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required.* Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.* Experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting.* Experience preparing reconciliations and financial analysis.* Excellent organizational and time management skills.* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.* Proficient in QuickBooks, Xero, or related accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.### Preferred Experience* Experience in logistics, transportation, or international operations.* Experience working in small to mid-sized businesses.* Familiarity with IFRS or GAAP reporting standards.* CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred.* Experience supporting international accounting functions.## Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
