Data Loss Prevention Engineer

Role Overview In a team at the forefront of protecting critical financial data across the enterprise, you will strengthen data loss prevention (DLP) capabilities to protect sensitive data exfiltration using leading DLP tools and modern security practices, including emerging AI risk controls. Core / Essential Skills 3 years of experience with any DLP tools and DSPM (data security posture management) including Netskope, Proofpoint, Microsoft Purview. 3+ years of experience implementing and managing DLP solutions to protect data in motion, at rest, and in use across enterprise environments. Experience testing and validating incidents from your tests. 3+ years in PowerShell scripting and programming: creating and maintaining automation scripts to streamline security operations and data protection processes. 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) and other Microsoft tools to build automated workflows and enhance security and compliance operations. 1–2 years with AI security and understanding data exposure risks in AI workflows: designing and enforcing security controls to mitigate risks associated with AI systems, models, and data usage. Foundational knowledge of AI fundamentals. Key Responsibilities Implement and manage DLP tools (DIM, DAR, DAE) to protect enterprise data. Develop and maintain automation scripts, ideally in PowerShell. Design and enforce security controls to mitigate risks associated with AI systems, models, and data usage. Apply AI/ML concepts to support secure and compliant AI implementations. Use Microsoft Power Platform and automation to build workflows and enhance security and compliance operations. Additional Responsibilities Monitor, restore service, and handle day‑to‑day activities 7/24/365 required to run mission‑critical Information Security systems. Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Anticipate and reduce complexity for others. Prepare and deliver presentations for senior management. Provide input into planning and implementation of operational programs. Develop and document procedures and processes, conforming to industry best practices and bank regulations, policies and standards. Lead preparation of end‑user reference materials. Gather requirements and document these for audits, reports and projects. Act in a larger project planning capacity, audit quality of reports submitted by analysts and provide coaching and support. Perform governance and oversight in support of the team, producing and reviewing reports to ensure completeness and compliance to applicable standards. Monitor and maintain security tools and applications. Create activity reports for security tools and applications. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives and support operational activities for Information Security. Develop an understanding of organizational interactions and complexity to engage with appropriate matrix areas. Service requests, transactions, queries within relevant SLA. Coordinate and facilitate incident management activities, including deploying changes to production and engaging third‑party providers during an incident. Recommend approaches to streamline and integrate security processes and systems within the organization, considering Information Security methodology to improve overall efficiency. Provide technical Information Security subject‑matter expertise. Identify opportunities to strengthen the Information Security organization, such as sharing expertise to promote technical development and mentoring. Stay abreast of industry technical and business trends through professional associations, practice communities and individual learning. Ensure consistent, high‑quality practices and achievement of business results in alignment with business/group strategies and productivity goals. Focus primarily on the business/group within BMO; may have broader enterprise‑wide focus. Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support. Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose and solve problems within given rules. Work independently and regularly handle non‑routine situations. Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework in the execution of your role, in line with the Risk Culture and within approved risk appetite. Qualifications Typically 4–7 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in Business or Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of formal training, certifications or work experience. At least one information security certification with strong preference for (ISC)², ISACA, SANS. Understanding and problem‑solving ability for IS issues within their business group, appreciating complexity and impact of security platforms. Experience in Information Security or multiple areas of systems and computer operations (Identity & Access Management, IT operations, certification & key management, security platform administration, incident response). Partnering, communication and negotiation skills to communicate effectively within the team and with technology and business partners. Knowledge of Information Security support and operations concepts, practices, concepts and technology obtained through formal training and work experience. Knowledge of Information Security processes, procedures and controls. Knowledge of technical and business environment and corporate processes and procedures. Understanding of Information Security risk and regulatory requirements. Deep knowledge and technical proficiency from extensive education and business experience. Salary & Compensation Pay range: $88,800.00 – $165,600.00. Salary varies based on location, skills, experience, education and may include commission or incentive components. The position is salaried.
