Senior Estimator

About the Opportunity A well-established General Contractor in the Houston market is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong background in K-12 and commercial construction who is looking to take on greater responsibility and play a key role in winning and delivering major projects. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for leading estimates from the initial review of plans and specifications through final bid submission, while working closely with clients, subcontractors, project managers, and the preconstruction team. Responsibilities Lead estimates for K-12, education, and other commercial construction projects. Review project plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates. Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids. Develop conceptual, schematic, and hard-bid estimates. Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, and opportunities during the estimating process. Collaborate with project management and operations teams during preconstruction and project turnover. Participate in subcontractor and client meetings as needed. Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews. Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, architects, and consultants. Help mentor and develop junior estimators. Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and submitted on schedule. Qualifications 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred. Strong experience with K-12, education, institutional, or similar commercial projects . Ground-up construction experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing. Proven ability to read and interpret construction documents. Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates. Strong subcontractor and vendor relationships within the Houston market preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required. What the Company Offers Competitive salary based on experience.
