Reading Program Coordinator, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

Overview Alpha School seeks qualified reading instructors for K-2. The role centers on structured-literacy instruction using data-driven, small-group workshops. You will design and deliver brief, targeted sessions and monitor student progress with AI-adaptive tools. What You Will Be Doing Creating small-group K-2 reading workshops driven by live adaptive-app data, rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent) Leading daily motivation sessions to drive 100% of your students toward their weekly app targets using Alpha's motivational framework Analyzing AI-generated performance data to modify instruction during the day Conducting running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to generate weekly campus data Serving as the engaging, high-energy adult your K-2 students are excited to see each day What You Won’t Be Doing Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted lesson plans, or district pacing calendars; you build lessons from student data Delivering whole-class lectures; instruction occurs in small groups while students use adaptive apps Serving as a reading consultant or district-level specialist; you work in the classroom daily Managing a conventional classroom schedule with subject-by-subject lectures Preparing IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic reports; progress is tracked in app data and running records Responsibilities Generate measurable K-2 reading progress across phonics, fluency, and comprehension within a campus culture of weekly review Basic Requirements Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master’s degree in reading instruction Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in the past 5 years Proven ability to create your own reading lessons and explain what you teach without depending on a published program Willingness to work on-site full-time at one Alpha campus location noted in the job description (multiple U.S. locations) Willingness to work with all K-2 students and incorporate AI and adaptive-learning tools as they advance Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Direct experience with AI-powered or adaptive reading platforms for instructional planning or student data interpretation Documented measurable reading outcomes with numbers Familiarity with diagnostic reading assessments for differentiated groups Experience in high-accountability educational settings Background in youth engagement beyond reading instruction Compensation and Location Salary: $120,000 annual, paid weekly. Health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one. Full-time on-site at multiple Alpha campus locations in CA, CT, FL, IL, MA, NC, NY, or MI; relocation assistance available.
