As the General Manager of an Avo restaurant in New York, you will own the success of your location. You’ll lead your team to deliver exceptional guest experiences, grow sales, hit your financial targets, and uphold Avo’s values and standards every shift. Reporting to the founders, you’ll run your store like it’s your own business.

\n

What you’ll do:

\n

\n

Team Leadership & Development:

\n

\n
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and train Assistant Managers, Shift Leads, and Team Members to build a high-performing, well-staffed team
\n
• Coach and develop your team daily, building a pipeline of future leaders and reducing turnover
\n
• Build weekly schedules that match labor to sales while ensuring proper coverage
\n
• Handle day-to-day HR matters with support from the Operations Manager, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies
\n
• Lead by example on the floor, reinforcing Avo’s mission, operating principles, and core values
\n

\n

Financial Performance:

\n

\n
• Own your restaurant’s P&L, with a focus on driving sales and controlling costs
\n
• Manage labor, food cost, and waste to meet or beat budget targets
\n
• Oversee inventory, ordering, and receiving to keep the store stocked while minimizing waste
\n
• Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, and reporting
\n

Operational Excellence:

\n

\n
• Run day-to-day operations of your location, including opening and closing procedures
\n
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety and NYC Department of Health standards, keeping the store inspection-ready at all times
\n
• Maintain the cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep of the restaurant and equipment
\n
• Track and improve store performance metrics, including sales, speed of service, food quality, and guest satisfaction
\n
• Manage in-store, catering, and third-party delivery operations
\n

Guest Experience:

\n

\n
• Create a welcoming, energetic environment where every guest feels taken care of
\n
• Respond to guest feedback and online reviews promptly and use them to improve
\n
• Build relationships with regulars and the local community to drive repeat visits and sales
\n

\n

\n

Sustainability and Quality:

\n

\n
• Ensure your team follows Avo’s sourcing, recipe, and sustainability standards
\n
• Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation on every plate
\n
• Partner with suppliers and the Operations team on deliveries, product quality, and freshness
\n

\n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• 3+ years of restaurant management experience, including at least 1 year as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in fast casual or quick service
\n
• Hands-on experience managing a store P&L, labor, and inventory
\n
• NYC Food Protection Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
\n
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing team members
\n
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
\n
• Passion for food, sustainability, and promoting healthy living
\n
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
\n
• Entrepreneurial mindset: ability to deliver results with limited resources
\n
• Personal characteristics that reflect Avo: high-energy, action-oriented, self-motivated, positive attitude, service focused, flexible, fun-loving personality, and ethical with a high degree of integrity
