Interim Sr. Cost Accountant POST NUMBER: 302720
Vaco Atlanta is partnering with an established and well-respected manufacturing organization in the Atlanta area that is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant for a long-term contract engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cost accounting professional who enjoys working hands-on in a manufacturing environment and is looking to make an immediate impact. The successful candidate will play a key role in cost accounting, inventory, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while partnering closely with operations and other cross-functional teams. Hybrid Flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform standard costing, cost analysis, and ongoing review of product and manufacturing costs
- Analyze manufacturing variances and identify key drivers and opportunities for improvement
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Manage inventory accounting, valuation, and related analysis
- Support the month-end close process, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial reports related to manufacturing costs and inventory
- Partner with operations and cross-functional teams on cost reduction, inventory management, and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and other accounting projects as needed
Qualifications
- 5 years of cost accounting experience
- Strong manufacturing accounting background
- Demonstrated experience with standard costing
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and valuation
- Experience with Oracle ERP or a similar ERP system
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to partner effectively with operations and other business stakeholders
