Lynk Engineers is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Designer -- NICET Level II+ to join our growing team. We’re looking for a skilled professional with strong fire alarm design experience who can take ownership of system design, navigate code and life-safety requirements, and collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and project teams.

Position Summary 

The Fire Alarm Designer is responsible for the design, layout, and coordination of fire alarm and life safety systems for a variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop code-compliant, efficient, and constructible system designs. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design fire alarm and life safety systems, including:  
• Fire alarm detection and notification systems  
• Voice evacuation systems  
• Mass notification systems (as applicable)  
• Prepare design drawings and construction documents using Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD  
• Perform device layout, circuiting, panel sizing, and battery calculations  
• Coordinate fire alarm systems with electrical, mechanical, architectural, and structural disciplines  
• Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards, including:  
• NFPA standards (NFPA 72, NFPA 70)  
• Local and state building/fire codes  
• Assist with specifications, design narratives, and submittal reviews  
• Participate in project meetings and coordination efforts  
• Support construction administration, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings  
• Ensure designs meet project schedules, budgets, and quality standards  

Qualifications 

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred  
• 2+ years of experience in fire alarm design (level dependent)  
• Experience in the AEC consulting environment preferred  
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD  
• Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, especially NFPA 72  
• Familiarity with fire alarm system manufacturers (e.g., Notifier, Siemens, Simplex)  
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills  
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines  

Preferred Qualifications 

• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II or higher preferred)  
• Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection  
• Understanding of construction practices and field coordination  
• Knowledge of low-voltage system integration (security, access control, etc.)

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Extended hours and weekend work are sometimes required to meet deadlines.

Pay range and compensation package

Competitive salary based on experience, plus eligibility for quarterly performance bonuses.
