Head Coach, Cheerleading

Position Description Manhattan University is looking for the next Head Coach of theCheerleading team. The Cheerleaders are a team which performsregularly at all home men's and women's basketball games, peprallies, and other large, school-wide events, functions, orathletic events. They also attend NCA in Daytona, Florida. The HeadCoach must maintain a safe environment for students to participate. The Head Coach is responsible for the recruitment of students andtryouts, weekly practices, choreography of routines, promotingschool spirit, and representing Manhattan University in a positiveand professional manner. They are responsible for all coordinationand ordering associated with the team, marketing, uniforms, andcostumes, along with fundraising required by the group. This is apart-time position. Job Responsibilities Help oversee all aspects of the cheer program includingpractices, performances, competitions, travel, social media, andinjury prevention Assist in staying on track with budget and works towardgenerating revenue through fundraising and sponsorship Attend all home games for men’s and women’s basketball andother appearances as necessary Work in collaboration with the Pep Band and Dance Team coach toensure a high-level game-day experience Attend all travel functions i.e., MAAC Tournament andNationals Flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, arerequired Requirements Has the ability to organize and supervise a total cheerleadingprogram Bachelors degree required; in Education, Sports Management,Exercise Science, Communications, or a related field preferred 1 - 3 years of progressively professional coaching experience,preferably in a college or university setting The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technicalaspects of cheerleading and, at the same time, must continue toexamine new and creative ways to improve year over year Excellent oral and written communication skills with soundjudgement and decision-making High energy and enthusiasm to work with students to propel themtoward success Current driver's license is preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr The Chronicle of Higher Education
