Electronics Technician

Crane Aerospace and Electronics offers an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Technician in our Brake Control Unit factory (Electronic Assembly) at the Burbank, CA location. About Crane Crane Aerospace and Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets, operating in demanding environments such as engines, landing gear, satellites, medical implants, missiles, and unmanned aerial systems. Our Burbank facility plays a vital role in ensuring aircraft safety through brake control systems and premium cabin actuation solutions used on thousands of aircraft worldwide. Job Summary The Electronics Technician works under close direction and is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic and mechanical products, parts, equipment, and systems. This includes computer equipment, instrumentation, digital and analog electronics, test equipment, and electro‑mechanical products, applying principles of electronics, electrical circuitry, and testing. Essential Functions Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings and use manufacturing and engineering instructions for testing assembled electronic or mechanical units. Create non‑conformance reports with detailed descriptions of testing performed, resulting failures, and initial root‑cause investigations. Interpret and work according to work orders, drawings, schematics, functional and acceptance test procedures, failure reports, manuals, and all applicable engineering and production specifications. Calibrate or adjust assigned units, performing component selection, potentiometer adjustment, clocking, shimming, tension or coil adjustments, bearing and gear adjustments as appropriate, and make required mathematical calculations. Perform automated testing and performance testing using automated equipment and special test consoles to simulate in‑service specifications, including vib, burn‑in, thermal cycle, and flying probe & ICT. Perform manual testing involving setup, adjustment, operation, and interpretation of results from standard and special‑purpose test equipment such as multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, altitude chambers, flow meters, and hi‑pot. Test units in other programs and units of greater complexity under close supervision. Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and Crane policy. Support Crane Business System initiatives including 5S, KPIs, standard work, problem solving, and other initiatives. Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment. Work overtime when necessary. Perform any other task assigned by supervisor or management. Minimum Qualifications Experience: 3 to 5+ years in a related field or equivalent educational experience. Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting methods, circuitry or mechanical characteristics, product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment, and working knowledge of computer systems. Skills: Good oral and written communication in English. Abilities: Ability to learn new test software and equipment, identify abnormal conditions, manual and finger dexterity, perform precisely coordinated movements, and work in multiple software systems including time entry, data entry, online training, PDM and MRP systems. Education/Certification: AA degree in Electronic or Mechanical Technology or equivalent knowledge. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Knowledge of practical application of engineering electronics, science, and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and production. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Working Conditions Standard manufacturing environment. Safety equipment required: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and other PPE. Possible exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes. Possible occasional travel to support customers. Standing approximately 20% of the time; sitting 80% of the time. Lifting up to 35 pounds; pushing up to 100 pounds. Mental/visual requirements include use of microscope and computer. Workspace: clean bench. Salary Range Technician Level II: $24.00 to $34.50 per hour Technician Level III: $30.60 to $43.46 per hour Benefits Health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month.
