Social Media Specialist The Social Media Specialist is a creative, organized, and hands-on member of the Marketing Team responsible for building and managing Ocean Mist Farms' organic social media presence across key platforms. This role brings the brand to life through compelling storytelling, consistent content execution, community engagement, and performance reporting. This position supports Ocean Mist Farms' consumer-facing brand by highlighting its California farming heritage, value-added product growth, and fresh produce expertise through educational, inspiring, and shareable content. The ideal candidate is comfortable planning content calendars, creating short-form video and social posts, engaging with consumers and creators, tracking performance, and collaborating across internal teams to ensure social media supports broader brand, retail, product, and marketing priorities. Organic Social Media Strategy & Planning Develop, recommend, and manage organic social media content plans with approved brand priorities, seasonal campaigns, retailer programs, product launches, and business goals. Ensure social media content is reviewed and approved through established Marketing approval processes prior to publication, as applicable. Build and manage a monthly organic social media content calendar, across priority platforms, including, but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, LinkedIn and emerging platforms as appropriate. Align social content with Ocean Mist Farms' brand voice, California origin story, farm-to-table authenticity, product portfolio, and consumer education goals. Recommend content improvements based on engagement trends, audience behavior, platform performance, and business priorities. Maintain organized reporting, content calendars, creative assets, and performance summaries to support continuity and cross-functional visibility. Identify opportunities to use organic social media to reduce consumer barriers, including how to cook, prepare, serve, and enjoy Ocean Mist Farms products. Stay current on social media trends, creator content formats, platform changes, and relevant food, produce, wellness, cooking, and retail conversations. Content Creation & Management Concept, write, schedule, and publish social content, including static posts, Reels, TikToks, Stories, short-form video, recipe content, educational posts, retailer-support content, and evergreen brand storytelling. Champion Ocean Mist Farms' agricultural heritage, California growing region, farmer/grower story, product quality, and fresh produce expertise. Develop content that helps consumers understand product benefits, usage ideas, preparation methods, recipe inspiration, and convenience-oriented solutions. Collaborate with internal teams and external creative partners on photography, video, design, copy, and campaign assets. Ensure all content reflects accurate product information, current packaging, approved messaging, and brand standards. Support content needs for product launches, seasonal promotions, retail campaigns, trade events, and company initiatives. Maintain a consistent publishing cadence across priority platforms. Community Engagement & Relationship Building Monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, tags, mentions, and consumer questions in a timely, on-brand voice. Proactively engage with consumers, food creators, culinary influencers, retailers, community partners, and relevant brand conversations. Identify user-generated content opportunities and recommend ways to amplify consumer, creator, retailer, and partner content. Help manage relationships with influencers, creators, and community partners for organic content opportunities. Escalate sensitive comments, customer concerns, product questions, food safety issues, or brand-related matters to the appropriate internal team. Support social listening efforts to identify themes, consumer questions, product feedback, and emerging opportunities. Analytics, Reporting & Optimization Monitor key performance metrics, including reach, engagement, follower growth, saves, shares, clicks, video views, comments, and conversions where applicable. Prepare monthly social media performance summaries with insights, learnings, and recommended actions. Use performance data to optimize content topics, formats, posting cadence, platform mix, and audience engagement. Identify top-performing content and recommend ways to repurpose or scale successful themes. Track organic social media contribution to broader marketing priorities, including brand awareness, consumer education, retailer support, and product launch visibility. Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate with brand, sales, product, innovation, and retail marketing teams to support retailer-specific programs and promotions. Support retailer activations, including programs with accounts such as Kroger, H-E-B, and other strategic partners. Align social content with packaging updates, product launches, seasonal availability, trade events, retailer programs, and marketing campaigns. Partner with internal subject matter experts to ensure product, agriculture, growing, nutrition, cooking, and usage information is accurate. Help create social content that supports Ocean Mist Farms' evolution from a commodity produce supplier to a more recognizable, branded fresh food company. Job Requirements and Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field preferred. Experience 3–5 years of experience in social media, marketing, communications, content creation, or brand marketing. Experience working with a fresh produce grower/shipper, food brand, CPG company, agriculture business, retailer, agency, or consumer-facing brand preferred. Proficiency with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit and LinkedIn. Experience using social media management or creative tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Canva, or similar platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with basic content editing, asset organization, and reporting tools. Experience with digital advertising platforms such as Meta Ads, Google Ads, or similar platforms preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong writing, editing, communication, and storytelling skills. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to translate brand strategy, product information, and business priorities into clear, engaging social content. Analytical mindset with experience tracking social media performance and identifying actionable insights. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions with limited supervision. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization. Excellent customer service mindset and ability to respond professionally to consumers, creators, partners, and internal stakeholders. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Valid California Driver's License and ability to be insured. Ability to travel occasionally throughout the year for tradeshows, industry events, retail activations, farm visits, content capture, and company events.
