Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Tooling Engineer
Location: Merritt Island, FL
Pay Rate: $60-77/hr. W2
Employment Type: 6 months; contract-hire

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking multiple mid and senior-level Mechanical Tooling Design Engineers for an aerospace manufacturer which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in tooling design and project management looking to further their career in space systems production.
- Design and release CAD models and engineering drawings for tooling per ASME Y14.5 standards
- Solve technical design challenges for assembly fixtures, test equipment, and specialized machinery
- Manage tooling projects from concept through commissioning, including procurement, fabrication, and proof testing
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize safety, quality, and reliability; support root cause analyses and corrective actions
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of direct manufacturing experience with expertise in tooling design, fabrication, and procurement
- Proficiency with CAD software (Creo Parametric preferred), GD&T, and mechanical design fundamentals
- Aerospace or highly regulated industry experience
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, welding, sheet-metal operations) and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and structural analysis software (ANSYS Workbench preferred)
