Are you a workers' compensation attorney looking to make a change?

We are looking for a Subrogation Attorney to join a specialized litigation practice in San Diego. This role is well suited for an attorney with a workers’ compensation background who wants to expand into civil litigation while managing subrogation matters for insurer and adjuster clients. You will handle a diverse caseload involving accident-related losses, collaborate closely with clients, and contribute to efficient case resolution through strong advocacy, analysis, and communication.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of subrogation files from intake through resolution, reviewing claim materials and identifying viable recovery opportunities.

• Evaluate liability, damages, and medical causation issues in matters involving workplace incidents, vehicle collisions, and other tort-based losses.

• Prepare litigation documents such as motions, settlement statements, mediation briefs, and other case-related filings.

• Conduct discovery, participate in depositions, attend court appearances, and represent clients in mediations and related proceedings.

• Communicate promptly with insurance professionals and adjusters regarding case status, strategy, and developments affecting recovery.

• Analyze the procedural posture of connected workers’ compensation and civil matters to support informed legal strategy.

• Negotiate with plaintiff counsel and other parties to pursue favorable settlements and maximize recoveries for clients.

• Maintain billable work expectations while managing an active caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.

• Active attorney license and at least 1 year of workers' compensation or subrogation experience.

• Ability to manage multiple active files while meeting billable hour expectations.

• Ability to commute to downtown San Diego (near Santa Fe Depot).

• Familiarity with subrogation claims, insurance-related litigation, or recovery matters is preferred.

• Experience with workers’ compensation medical-legal processes, including QME-related issues, is a plus.
