We have an exciting opportunity for an EHS Leader supporting our IRP/MP/OB business based in Alsip, IL. In this role, the Safety Leader ensures compliance with regulations and policies, provides leadership and guidance on EHS programs, and conducts audits to ensure company and regulatory standards are met. The Safety Leader is hands‑on, highly visible on the floor, fully accountable for owning and driving the safety program end‑to‑end, with clear expectations, strong structure, and disciplined follow‑through. Safety is a core operational priority, not a trade‑off against productivity. Responsibilities Safety Culture & Leadership Build positive, collaborative relationships at all levels of the site to create a zero‑incident culture. Establish a behavior‑based safety culture by coaching supervisors and employees in promoting safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management. Establish and lead a safety committee. Provide leadership, cohesiveness, and vision in the plant for all EHS and sustainability‑related matters. EHS Policy & Compliance Develop and manage EHS training for the plant, including minimum requirements, programs, and policies, and provide EHS PPE. Manage the safety data sheet and new chemical request process and regulated reporting (TIER 2, TRI, etc.). Establish and maintain facility‑specific management plans for environment: air, water, waste (hazardous and non‑hazardous materials). Implement applicable EHS policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting, and tracking processes in compliance with Ingersoll Rand 37 standard works requirements; local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Risk Management & Incident Oversight Complete risk assessments and recommend control measures for all potential areas of concern. Lead incident and near‑miss reporting; perform root cause analysis on incidents and injuries. Oversee workers’ compensation program administration, including working with all parties to manage and support transitional/accommodated duty and return‑to‑work programs. Build an efficient management‑of‑change program and evaluate non‑standard tasks to uncover risks and identify corrective actions. Contractor & Visitor Safety Build and manage a contractor management and visitor security/safety program. Machine & Workplace Safety Ensure machine safety by upgrading and assessing equipment safety and participate in the ergonomic evaluation for the site. Emergency Preparedness & Response Oversee the facility emergency response team to ensure appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management. Ensure drills and equipment are in a ready state and effective communication of responsibilities to personnel. Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Lead and coordinate efforts in continuous process improvement and lean management. Own data entry/reporting and use established tools & processes to ensure data accuracy; analyze trends and deliver reports in a timely manner, including incident reporting, auditing, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items, and other pertinent information. Sustainability & Strategic Goals Develop a path to our 2030–2050 sustainability goals for the plant/BU. Requirements Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. 7+ years demonstrated proficiency in occupational safety, environmental reporting, and regulations. 3+ years working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulations. 2+ years experience developing and delivering training programs. 2+ years proven experience in project management and stakeholder communications. 2+ years experience working in Microsoft Office and other EHS related applications. Core Competencies EHS Leadership: Drive a zero‑incident safety culture through coaching, influence, and cross‑functional collaboration. Regulatory Compliance: Apply in‑depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ standards to maintain safe, compliant operations. Process & Project Management: Lead projects and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize safety, sustainability, and operational outcomes. Data‑Driven Insight: Analyze environmental, safety, and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Training & Development: Design, deliver, and manage EHS training programs to ensure workforce competency and engagement. Critical Thinking & Problem‑Solving: Evaluate complex situations, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions. Preferences Degree concentration in: Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related technical field. Relevant professional certification(s) such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, Train‑the‑Trainer or equivalent. Exposure to site audits, walks/tours, JHAs/JSAs. Experience with TRI and Tier II reporting. Knowledge of Gensuite application. Travel & Work Arrangements Position is onsite and requires minimal travel, less than 15%. Pay Range The base pay range for this role is $115,000 - $135,000 excluding incentive opportunities. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including skill, experience, training, licensure and certifications, and geographic location. Hired applicants will be eligible to receive discretionary/nondiscretionary annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
