Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment primarily used in Neuro, Spine, and Cardiac procedures. This role ensures that all instruments meet strict quality and safety standards to support acute hospital operating room environments. The SPT works evening shifts in a fast-paced setting, maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines and collaborating closely with surgical teams to facilitate efficient surgical services.
Responsibilities:
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment primarily used in Neuro, Spine, and Cardiac procedures. This role ensures that all instruments meet strict quality and safety standards to support acute hospital operating room environments. The SPT works evening shifts in a fast-paced setting, maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines and collaborating closely with surgical teams to facilitate efficient surgical services.
Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of sterile supplies to maintain sterility.
- Manage inventory and track surgical instruments and supplies.
- Collaborate with operating room staff to provide timely and accurate instrument sets for surgical procedures.
- Follow established protocols and safety standards for infection control and sterilization processes.
- Document sterilization processes and maintain records for compliance purposes.
- Perform quality checks on instruments and equipment to identify defects or malfunctions.
- Certification in Sterile Processing from CBSPD or IAHCSMM.
- Experience in an acute hospital operating room environment.
- Knowledge of Neuro, Spine, and Cardiac surgical instrumentation.
- Ability to adhere to infection control and sterilization standards.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Experience with a variety of surgical specialties beyond Neuro, Spine, and Cardiac.
- Familiarity with hospital inventory management systems.
- Additional certifications related to sterile processing or surgical technology.
- Position requires working the evening shift from 1500 to 2330, Monday through Friday.
- No on-call requirements.
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not eligible.
- Travel contract eligibility requires separation from previous facility of at least 3 months, excluding Swedish facilities.
- Five days per week, Monday through Friday.
- Evening shift hours: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
