Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Columbia Mental Health, a leading provider of comprehensive psychiatric and therapeutic services in Washington, DC, is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapy to a diverse adult and adolescent population, collaborating closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and other behavioral health professionals to support holistic patient care.

As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, you will conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments, formulate diagnostic impressions, and develop individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient’s unique strengths, challenges, and goals. You will provide individual, group, and, when appropriate, family therapy using modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, trauma-informed approaches, and other evidence-based interventions. You will monitor progress, update treatment plans, and document all clinical encounters clearly and accurately in our electronic health record system, ensuring compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards.

You will work closely with an inclusive, supportive, and empathetic multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, innovation, and shared decision-making. Regular case consultations, treatment team meetings, and opportunities for co-treatment with psychiatry will allow you to integrate therapeutic interventions with medication management and other services, contributing to improved outcomes for individuals experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, psychotic disorders, and co-occurring substance use or medical conditions.

You may also participate in program development activities, such as helping to design new therapy groups, refining clinical protocols, or supporting initiatives that improve access to care, including telehealth services.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC, with a hybrid work environment that may include a combination of in-person and telehealth sessions, depending on patient needs and organizational guidelines.
