Family Child Care Specialist

The Family Child Care Specialist provides coaching, technical assistance, monitoring, and training to Family Child Care Providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services in accordance with General Child Care and Development (CCTR) requirements. The role supports providers in implementing developmentally appropriate educational activities, effective curriculum practices and school readiness activities while conducting ongoing health and safety monitoring within Family Child Care homes. The FCC Specialist serve as the main link for providing resources and guidance on general licensing regulations. The FCC Specialist also works collaboratively with families to provide services in the areas of health, mental health/inclusion and family needs. Assist in recruitment, enrollment of eligible families in addition to supporting families in accessing varied community resources. Location: 827 Broadway St San Francisco Ca Req #1698 Language : English & Spanish Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities Provide guidance and training to 5 to 8 Family Child Care Providers to ensure the General Child Care and Development (CCTR) requirements in the Family Child Care program is in compliance with regulatory requirements; ensure that Family Child Care providers are in compliance with contractual obligations. Conduct one in-person visit and one virtual visit each month to each Family Child Care home to observe educational activities, support providers in developing lesson plans, and promote the effective implementation of the Creative Curriculum. Some visits will be unannounced, with a minimum of three unannounced visits conducted during each contract period. Provide coaching sessions to assigned Family Child Care providers to support professional growth, strengthen instructional practices, and enhance curriculum implementation. Monitor family childcare settings at least once per month to ensure that health and safety licensing regulations are in compliance. Ensure that general school readiness activities such as ASQ screenings, Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), Lesson Plans, Parent/ Provider conferences and Individual Learning Plans are occurring within specified program deadlines. Support FCC Provider to complete DRDPs and Lesson plans. Conduct annual FCCERS assessments for assigned providers within your caseload. In collaboration with the FCCN Manager and community partners, design ongoing professional development pathways to support the growth of family child care provider competencies in early childhood development and education. In collaboration with the FCCN Manager and service area Content Managers, develop individualized and group training plans for FCC Providers. Attend an Education Team meetings on a monthly basis. Prepare written communications for providers and parents, i.e., memos, flyers, newsletters and forms as needed in the provider/parent home language. Document all contacts with providers, families, staff and partners in the file log and database; maintain child and provider files in accordance with state and local regulations. Provide comprehensive child and family support services to a caseload of at least 15 to 25 families with children enrolled in the CCTR FCCHEN program. Conduct Family orientation meetings for each new family enrolling and facilitate completion of enrollment paperwork. Participate in transition entry planning and meetings. Conduct monthly check in via phone contacts with families and/or meet in person as needed for completion of family service activity. Complete Needs Assessment (Family Profile/SNIPS) for each family. Maintain on-going recordkeeping with Family contact notes to document each service contact. Arrange and facilitate monthly Family Committee Committee meetings and family education workshops or individualized meetings for caseload. Document family and child services in the Child Plus database on all service activities. Participate in recruitment/ outreach activities to enroll new children into the program as needed. Assist families in completing pre-school enrollment applications for children making transition to pre-school programs. Work collaboratively with the Enrollment team to assure smooth selection, orientation and enrollment of children into and out of the program. Assist families in navigating the health care system to ensure children’s health care needs are addressed and followed up on as needed. Participate in quarterly Family Services Meeting for training and information sharing on family services Participate monthly in FCC Team meetings for service collaboration and information sharing. Contact families of absent children and complete the absence request form. In collaboration with FCCN Manager and FCC provider, arrange attendance intervention meetings to address attendance concerns. Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Experience & Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development or Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 18 ECE units. Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an early education setting. Must have at least 3 Infant/Toddler units. Experience working in a non- profit environment is required Knowledge/Experience/Skills Required: Bilingual and biliterate in English/Spanish; English/Chinese required Experience providing training and professional development using adult learning principles Knowledge of: Early childhood curriculum planning and implementation Developmentally appropriate lesson planning and individualized learning experiences Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) and Ages & Stages Questionnaires: Social-Emotional (ASQ:SE) Environment Rating Scales and quality improvement practices Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) to support continuous quality improvement and provider development Family engagement strategies and culturally responsive practices Community resources and support services available to children and families. Physical and Cognitive Demands Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds Compensation and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.72 - $44.35. A new hire generally starts between $28.72 and $36.48 The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skills sets, relevant experience, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
