About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Transportation Construction Manager with a strong field engineering background to oversee roadway and transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Houston area. This is a hands-on, in-field position supporting active TxDOT and HCTRA-related construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing transportation construction activities, interpreting roadway construction plans/specifications, coordinating with contractors and inspectors, addressing RFIs, and ensuring compliance with TxDOT/HCTRA standards.

This is not a vertical/commercial building construction role.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day construction operations on transportation infrastructure projects
• Conduct in-field reviews of construction plans, drawings, and specifications
• Coordinate with contractors, agency inspectors, and project teams to ensure compliance
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards in the field
• Prepare field reports, RFIs, and construction documentation
• Serve as the primary liaison between office project managers and field crews

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) - required
• Demonstrated field engineering and construction management experience
• HCTRA experience strongly preferred; TxDOT experience accepted
• Strong knowledge of transportation construction standards and practices
• Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $120,000-$175,000 depending on experience
