Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift MICU role requiring 2+ years of current critical care experience and prior travel assignment history.

Job Details

• Medical ICU (MICU) setting caring for adults and geriatric patients,
• Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, oncologic treatment complications, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis,
• Manages hemodynamically compromised patients requiring mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis,
• Patients may require bronchoscopy or endoscopy for underlying pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions,
• Patient ratio of 1:2,
• 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30),
• Schedule may involve a rotating D/N pattern with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs,
• EPIC charting system required,

Job Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care ICU experience required, with consistent work in the specialty within the last 12 months,
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered,
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,
• Required skills include ventilator management, IV starts, IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, PICC line management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure,
• Experience managing patients with chronic/acute renal failure required,
• Experience with accessing/managing ports and external ventricular drain (EVD) preferred,
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references are not accepted,

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex ICU patients including those undergoing oncologic treatment and multisystem organ management,
• Located within an Ohio hospital system requiring completion of Ohio fingerprinting promptly after contract signing,
• Candidates residing outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location shortly after booking; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet,
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate,
• Former employees are eligible for travel assignments after being away from the facility for 6 months or more,
• Current employees of the health system are not eligible for travel assignments at any of its Ohio locations,
• Requested RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
