Survey Research Lead -- Instruments, Sampling & Field Quality (VK Capital Ventures)

Job Description

Job Description

About
VK Capital Ventures Inc. runs Travel Villa Kitchen — a Houston chef co-op, cooking-class and private-dinner company (plus Six Rows Coffee and Farm2Chef, our farmer-chef marketplace) — and the Community Protein Pool, our Harris County food-access program. We are Human First service practitioners: healthy communication and people who are happy and emotionally safe in service is how we work. Our household data feeds a matching model, grant reports, and investor diligence — it has to be grant-grade. We are hiring a Survey Research Lead to own the instruments, sampling, and field-pool quality that make it so.

Responsibilities
- Design and own the survey instruments: Protein Pool household survey, market-day intercept surveys, and intake verification scripts — bilingual English/Spanish by design
- Own sampling: target ZIP selection, completion targets, and representativeness checks for the Survey Taker pool
- Run field-pool QA: same-week review of completes, backlog discipline (nothing older than 48 hours), and retraining where data quality slips
- Validate field data against program models — your data is what the Protein Pool matching model is checked against
- Keep the data intimate-data-safe: no personal identifiers beyond what an instrument collects, ever
- Report methods and data quality into the weekly snapshot and grant reporting, in writing a funder can audit

Qualifications
- Survey research experience: instrument design, sampling, and field operations (BLS anchor occupation: Survey Researchers)
- Experience supervising or QA-ing field/interviewer teams
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred — our instruments serve Spanish-speaking households
- Data-cleaning and documentation discipline (methods written down, reproducible)
- Houston-based; familiarity with Harris County neighborhoods a strong plus

Schedule
Full-time, standard business hours plus market-day field coverage as the survey calendar requires.

Benefits
- $60,000/yr base (planning base from the hiring-suite budget, below the BLS Survey Researchers median of $63,380)
- Your instruments become the evidentiary base of a food-access program and its grant reports
- A written role SOP and growth path from day one
