Summer Camp Counselor / Youth Culinary Instructor

A Yummy Future is a hands-on culinary education program that empowers, youth through cooking, nutrition, creativity, and life skills. Our summer camps create a fun, engaging, and safe environment where students explore cooking, teamwork, confidence-building, and healthy living.

Position Overview

We are seeking energetic, reliable, and positive Summer Camp Counselors / Youth Culinary Instructors to lead and assist with hands-on cooking camps for youth ages 4–17. Team members will help create memorable experiences through cooking activities, classroom management, mentorship, and daily camp engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist hands-on cooking activities and culinary lessons

• Supervise campers in a safe, positive, and inclusive environment

• Prepare ingredients, cooking stations, and classroom materials

• Support classroom management and student engagement

• Encourage teamwork, creativity, confidence, and participation

• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety procedures are followed

• Assist with camper check-in/check-out and parent communication when needed

• Help with setup, cleanup, and daily camp operations

• Maintain a professional, upbeat, and supportive attitude throughout camp

Qualifications

• Camp Counselors must be at least 19 years old OR at least 18 years old with one year of college completed

• Experience working with youth in camps, classrooms, childcare, enrichment, or recreation programs preferred

• Passion for cooking, nutrition, education, or mentorship

• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Must be comfortable working with children of various age groups

• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance

• Must be willing to work in fast-paced environments

• Ability to multitask and maintain a positive attitude throughout camp activities

• Reliable transportation and punctuality required

• CPR/First Aid certification is required

• Food Handler Certification is required

Schedule

• Monday–Friday summer camp shifts available (30 hours weekly)

• Optional Saturday & Sunday opportunities available for additional hours through events, workshops, and weekend programming

• Locations: Westchester, El Segundo, Hawthorne, and Long Beach.
