IT Infrastructure Engineer

The engineer will provide IT infrastructure support for the Developer Software Engineering lab computer systems.

Responsibilities include building, configuring, and maintaining high-performance computing clusters and test beds with predominantly Linux-based systems and high-performance fabrics.

Work involves installation and troubleshooting of production and pre-production servers, GPUs, switches, and software, as well as developing scripts for automation of cluster provisioning and configuration.

Additional duties include user support, documentation of practices, and general maintenance of lab spaces.

Experience in custom OS provisioning for Linux and Windows using enterprise tools.

Experience resolving infrastructure incidents and requests.

Hardware support experience including system assembly, parts replacement, firmware updates, break/fix, and inventory management.

Experience with capacity management and lifecycle maintenance of systems.

Experience partnering with network and security teams on lab network design.

Ability to maintain security compliance for systems.

Experience using IT service management systems.

Ability to document and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Experience improving system usability, quality, and maintainability.

Experience building and maintaining lab infrastructure systems.

5+ years of experience in Enterprise Linux and Windows Server Administration (Windows 2016/2019/2022, RedHat, SUSE, Ubuntu).

2+ years of experience in storage administration (SAN, NFS, CIFS, etc.).

2+ years of experience in client support administration (WinXP, Win7, Win10, Win11).

2+ years of experience in virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware).

Experience with automated OS provisioning software for client and server platforms.

Experience working in lab and datacenter environments.

BS degree in computer science or related field plus 5+ years of experience in infrastructure administration.

Build, configure, and maintain high-performance computing clusters.

Install and troubleshoot servers, GPUs, switches, and software.

Develop automation scripts for provisioning and configuration.

Provide user support and maintain documentation.

Maintain lab spaces and manage system capacity.

Collaborate with network and security teams.

Maintain security compliance for systems.

Update and maintain service management systems.

Drive improvements in system usability and maintainability.

Partner with engineering teams to support projects.

Perform system assembly and hardware component changes.

Support lab infrastructure systems.

Experience with high-performance Linux clustering.

Advanced TCP/IP knowledge (DNS, DClientP).

Experience with Perl, Python, or shell scripting.

Network storage and backup administration experience.

Experience building non-standard Linux kernels and batch systems.

Experience with LDAP, out-of-band management tools, and performance tools.

Experience with Jenkins CI environments.

Understanding of software engineering practices and testing methodologies.
