Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and evolve scalable, resilient, and high-performance architectures for distributed systems.
- Create architectural designs, technical specifications, and implementation roadmaps.
- Lead architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.
- Break down complex initiatives into actionable tasks with clear acceptance criteria and accurate LOE estimates.
- Own end-to-end delivery of critical features and platform enhancements.
- Mentor engineers and drive engineering best practices, coding standards, and code quality.
- Optimize DynamoDB (query performance, indexing, capacity planning, cost optimization).
- Improve Kafka performance through partitioning, throughput tuning, and monitoring.
- Implement resilience patterns including circuit breakers, retries, and fault tolerance.
- Drive TypeScript code quality, performance optimization, scalability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability, latency, and throughput.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in architecture roles.
- Expert-level TypeScript/Node.js development experience.
- Strong AWS expertise (Lambda, DynamoDB, ECS, API Gateway).
- Deep understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture (Kafka).
- Experience with scalability, performance tuning, and resilience patterns.
- Proven track record of architecting and delivering complex systems.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with DataDog, Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of SRE, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
- Experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, and API Gateway patterns.
