Our Finance team works closely with operational leaders and plays an important role in helping the organization understand performance, improve processes, and make informed business decisions. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a major live entertainment venue and professional sports organization. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of accounting but wants to get closer to the business. You'll own meaningful portions of month-end close and financial reporting while gaining exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and the operational activity behind live events and professional sports. Job Details We are seeking a Senior Accountant to become a key member of our Finance team. This individual will support a complex, high-volume operation and take ownership of significant components of the month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate has a strong technical accounting foundation but is also analytical and curious. We want someone who doesn't simply produce financial statements—they understand what the numbers mean, recognize when something doesn't look right, and are willing to dig in to determine why. Lead significant portions of month-end and year-end close Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and other accounting adjustments Review general ledger activity for accuracy, classification, and proper period recognition Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules Perform financial statement and variance analysis and communicate significant findings to management Complete and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations Research and resolve reconciling items and accounting discrepancies Perform bank reconciliations and support electronic payments, deposits, and other banking activity Monitor and reconcile company credit card activity Support accounting and reconciliation for ticketing, concessions, sponsorships, merchandise, special events, and other revenue streams Support event settlements and ensure related revenue and expenses are accurately recorded Review accounts receivable and accounts payable activity and assist with unusual or aging balances Prepare applicable sales and use tax filings and year-end information reporting Participate significantly in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting Support departmental KPI reporting and financial analysis Partner with operational leaders to research variances and support business decisions Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls Support fixed asset and capital spending accounting Assist with internal and external audits Maintain appropriate financial documentation and compliance requirements Participate in broader Finance initiatives and special projects What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles Hands-on month-end and year-end close experience Strong general ledger accounting background Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements Advanced understanding of journal entries, accrual accounting, A/P, A/R, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to independently research and resolve accounting issues Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively partner with Finance, operations, and leadership High level of discretion and confidentiality Nice to Have Sports, entertainment, hospitality, restaurant, venue, or event accounting experience Experience within another high-volume, transaction-heavy environment Experience supporting multiple revenue streams or business units Event settlement or revenue accounting experience Workday experience Toast experience Direct sports or entertainment experience is not required.
