Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks to produce high‑quality components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards. This role ensures welds meet required quality, strength, and appearance standards while supporting efficient production and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is well suited to a skilled trades professional with strong attention to detail and a commitment to craftsmanship. The Welder works collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, precision‑built products while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Key responsibilities

1. Preform welding operations using MIG methods.

1. Set up and operate welding equipment, ensuring proper settings for different materials and tasks.

1. Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components according to specifications.

1. Operate angle grinders and other power tools to prepare and finish welds.

1. Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine specific welding requirements.

1. Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

1. Has working knowledge of adjusting valves amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.

1. Measure and align workpieces to be welded according to specifications.

1. Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.

1. Identify and correct defects on finished products.

1. Report defective materials or material shortage to team lead.

1. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Welding Supervisor.

1. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.

1. Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

1. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

1. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

1. Previous experience as a welder is preferred.

1. Knowledgeable on the operation of various types of welding machinery.

1. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

1. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

1. Knowledge of safe work practices and precautionary measures.

1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or GED is preferred.

1. Additional training in welding or weld certification is an asset.

Certificates, licenses, and registrations

Physical Demands

1. Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.

1. Extended periods of time standing and walking.

1. Kneeling, crouching, twisting and climbing.

1. Manual dexterity and repetitive tasks.

Work Environment

1. Manufacturing shop floor / welding bay.

1. Exposure to heat, fumes and loud noise levels.

Potential Hazards

1. Burns from arc, sparks, and hot metal.

1. Welding fumes and gases (respiratory exposure).

1. Arc flash/UV radiation (eye and skin injury).
