Job Description

These roles are essential for keeping heavy equipment running safely and efficiently throughout every stage of construction.
Professionals in these heavy equipment mechanic trade jobs in Indianapolis will inspect, diagnose, and repair machinery such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other construction equipment. Strong mechanical skills and attention to detail are essential for minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment performance meets safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues efficiently
- Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Order and replace necessary parts and components
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety standards
- Coordinate with site supervisors to prioritize equipment needs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical diagrams
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
- Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in demanding environments
- Reliable transportation to job sites in Indianapolis, MD
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
