Contract | 12-hour variable shifts; travelers are most commonly scheduled for mid-to-late shifts (e.g., 1300–0100 and 1500–0300). Weekend rotation is expected every other weekend or more. Holidays are worked in rotation with permanent staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department seeing approximately 170–210 patients per day, with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 depending on acuity
• Manage a diverse patient population including psychiatric patients, stroke/TPA, sepsis, STEMIs, and conscious sedation cases (competency verification required prior to performing conscious sedation)
• Adhere to facility protocols for pain reassessment (PO medications within one hour, IV pain medications within 30 minutes), swallow screens for stroke patients, and sepsis bolus and bundle compliance
• Document and manage patient care using Cerner FirstNet EMR ; site-specific Cerner orientation will be provided
• Monitor patients on telemetry using Phillips monitoring system; review and sign off on strips printed and read by monitor techs
• May be required to float to a sister Emergency Department as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in California (or compact license eligibility)
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2–3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience
• Experience with Cerner FirstNet in an emergency department setting
• Familiarity with high-acuity presentations including stroke, STEMI, and sepsis protocols
• Experience with ventilator management and lab draws
