The Christman Company is looking for a Preconstruction Manager to strategically lead our Estimating and Planning services for the region. This role focuses on the leadership of specific project assignments, developing long‑term relationships with project stakeholders, and is responsible for achieving successful project outcomes and client satisfaction. Responsibilities Responsible for preconstruction deliverables to clients. Develop strategy for each assigned project. Provide support to business sales, team sales, and presentations. Manage risk, ensuring sound financial deals and driving cost leadership. Oversee and prepare estimates for projects at all stages, ensuring accuracy. Maintain the costing database, including labor and material updates. Oversee the value‑added process for each project. Take the lead in preparing guaranteed maximum prices and bring them to closure. Direct, review, and approve the work of Estimating Engineers, Conceptual Estimators, and Senior Estimators. Drive deadlines and achieve results. Ensure client satisfaction during preconstruction. Attend sales presentations and market work to existing clients. Enforce and support project planning, logistics, and scheduling with other teams. Ensure involvement of subcontractors for pricing and support the operations team during subcontractor negotiations. Continuously develop staff through mentoring, leading, motivating, and coaching (e.g., Ethics, Diversity, Quality, Development, Safety). Manage successful client relationships. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field. Ten (10) or more years of experience in construction preconstruction or estimating, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to make decisions while analyzing risks and future impacts, understands when to choose and when to elevate issues to higher levels. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Work Environment and Physical Demands This position will be conducted in a temperature‑controlled professional office environment with moderate noise. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and file cabinets. The employee must be able to talk, listen, sit, walk, reach, kneel, stoop, crouch, use hands and fingers to handle or feel and to operate a computer keyboard and phone while maintaining visual acuity. The employee may occasionally be required to lift or carry lightweight objects (under 20 pounds).
