POSITION SUMMARY                

A construction foreman is a supervisory professional responsible for overseeing construction crews, coordinating work activities, and ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and according to plans and specifications. They serve as the bridge between the superintendent and field workers

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB                                                    

  • Supervise and coordinate construction crews and subcontractors on-site
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality workmanship
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications
  • Enforce safety regulations and OSHA compliance
  • Inspect work for accuracy, compliance, and quality standards
  • Maintain daily records, including work logs, material usage, and labor reports
  • Communicate project updates and issues to project managers or site engineers
  • Resolve conflicts or challenges on-site efficiently
  • Schedule for delivery of materials and equipment
  • Train and mentor crew members in proper construction techniques and safety practices

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines efficiently and cost effectively
  • Leadership ability / willingness to take charge of activities and projects

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records.
  • Keen attention to detail and a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to want to take the next step in becoming a supervisor / superintendent

 

QUALIFICATIONS (The training, education and/or experience necessary to fulfill the job)

  • 1+ years’ construction industry experience preferred
  • High School diploma/GED preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
  • Compliance with all OSHA and other federal agency regulations
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, hard hats, safety (hard toe) shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and coveralls.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb, balance, twist, pull, push, have hand/finger dexterity and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in various weather conditions.
  • Vision abilities (with or without correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions including, but not limited to, heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, etc.
  • Must be able to exert up to 10-20 lbs. constantly to move objects; 25-50 lbs. of force frequently; 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally.
