Registered Nurse ER

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency Room (ER) care is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients facing urgent medical conditions. The nurse must maintain strong communication skills and be adept at working under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support).
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital or emergency room setting preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in emergency nursing or critical care environments.
• Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or trauma care.

Special Considerations:

• Must hold a New York nursing license at the time of hire.
• Position requires working every other weekend.
• Travelers accepted; local candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius.
• Work environment is fast-paced and high acuity typical of emergency departments.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week, primarily mid-shift or night shift.
• Contract length is 8 weeks with possible extension.
• Shift assignments may include weekends on an every-other-weekend rotation.
