Registered Nurse ER

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency Room (ER) care is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients facing urgent medical conditions. The nurse must maintain strong communication skills and be adept at working under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support).
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital or emergency room setting preferred.
Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in emergency nursing or critical care environments.
Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or trauma care.

Special Considerations:

Must hold a New York nursing license at the time of hire.
Position requires working every other weekend.
Travelers accepted; local candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius.
Work environment is fast-paced and high acuity typical of emergency departments.

Scheduling:

Three 12-hour shifts per week, primarily mid-shift or night shift.
Contract length is 8 weeks with possible extension.
Shift assignments may include weekends on an every-other-weekend rotation.
