About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years RN Labor and Delivery experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 2 years required Must-Have: - AWHONN certification - Minimum 2 years RN Labor and Delivery experience - Ability to float based on census Description: 3x12 or 4x12 option available. Guaranteed hours not specified. Float required based on census. Coverage every other weekend. Patient ratio is 1:2. Modified time may be considered. Skills Required: Administration of blood and blood products. Amnioinfusion. Antepartum care. Anticoagulation therapy. Antihypertensives. Antiseizure management. APGAR scores assessment. Assistance with high-risk deliveries. Assistance with sterile speculum exams. Support during vaginal deliveries. Breastfeeding support and lactation education. Car seat education for new parents. Cervical cerclage. Cesarean section assistance. Circulating for C-sections. Collection of cord samples. Cord care. Couplet care. D&C procedures. Discharge teaching for parents. Venous blood draws. Epidural anesthesia administration. Management of central lines. Fundus, lochia, and perineum care. Management of hemorrhage and shock. High-risk antepartum care. Infant identification and care. Newborn assessments. Management of newborn hypoglycemia. Non-stress tests and oxytocin challenge tests. Pain assessment and management. Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. Recovery of C-sections. Sterile vaginal exams. Teaching circumcision care to parents. Thermoregulation for infants. Triage of obstetrical patients. Vaginal deliveries. Use of external and internal fetal monitoring. Administration of vaccines. Unit Details: Interdisciplinary support teams available. Patient demographics include infants and adults. Daily census is approximately 14. Unit consists of 16 beds. Special procedures include cesarean sections and D&Cs.
