Job Summary

This recruitment will fill two positions.

• Hours of Work: Tuesday - Saturday 7:00am to 4:00pm, with an hour lunch OR Sunday - Thursday 3:00pm to 11:30pm with a 30 minute lunch.
• Screening will begin ASAP and continue until the position is filled.
• Start date to be determined, but as soon as practicable after the hiring/interview process.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Classified 4 level position. Starting wage range: $16.59 - $18.75/hourly, depending upon experience.

JOB SUMMARY: The Custodian II position is a full-time, benefited position, that provides clean, safe, and professional setups and furniture moving for our students, community, and stakeholders. This position may work on a team or individually to perform setup tasks across campus to maintain a high standard of timely and accurate setups for events. Providing clean, attractive, healthy, and safe facilities for events. Individuals in this position are expected to represent the Department and LCCC professionally.


Additionally, this position may also support and perform the duties of a Custodian I. This position may require the ability to work a flexible schedule and provide support for alternate shifts or for special event setups.

Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's

Essential Functions: - this position is n on-exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

To perform successfully in this position, an individual must be able to perform principal responsibilities satisfactorily as well as possess education/experience, employ the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed in representative fashion; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Support campus and community events, by efficiently setting up furniture, equipment, and staging materials, and ensuring timely teardown and clean-up after each event.
   • Operate college vehicles in the course of completing daily tasks.
   • Move furniture, boxes, equipment, and similar items to meet the specifications or needs of LCCC.
   • Clean carpets, floor, upholstery using specialty equipment.
   • Organize storage closets to increase efficiency.
   • Provide custodial services in support during and after campus and community events, special events and projects.
2. Assist the night custodial team by providing support for campus service areas through daily cleaning and monitoring of facilities
   • Perform cleaning procedures for applicable service areas including bathrooms, locker rooms, hallways, floors, stairwells, elevators, corridors, labs, classrooms, and weight rooms etc.
   • Assist with snow removal as needed.
   • Effectively communicating with team members, peers, and managers.
   • Notify supervisor, Campus Safety, or department of safety/security concerns, damaged facilities, inoperable equipment, or general maintenance/repair needs.

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, safety precautions, techniques and proper use of materials and equipment.
• Knowledge and ability with personal computing applications - specifically Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe products (e.g., Reader, Professional).
• Knowledge of basic office equipment including (but not limited to) personal computer and associated peripherals, fax machine, multi-line telephone, voice recorders, and other electronic devices.
• Knowledge of furniture moving or setup experience

Skills

• Skills and abilities to perform as an organized, self-starter.
• Excellent customer service skills: ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people, in one-to-one and small group settings - either face-to-face, by telephone, or by other electronic means - ability to communicate in an informative manner, effectively listen, and be able to handle escalating situations with concern and confidence.
• Adapt to a variable work schedule; including night shifts, evenings and weekends as needed.
• Comply with highly inflexible deadlines; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required.

Abilities

• Ability to properly use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal safety equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
• Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines, frequent interruptions, and some interpersonal pressure.
• Ability to effectively and professionally execute the essential functions of this position with proven capabilities in establishing appropriate professional rapport, communicating with courtesy and tact, and follow-through when requested.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to:

• Comply with highly inflexible deadlines
• Adapt to a variable work schedule as needed.
• Frequently move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities.
• Engage in multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing and carrying of objects.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; a team lift technique is required for lifts exceeding 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to read and interpret building and shift schedules, directions for equipment, hazardous material labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical labels.
• Frequent and prolonged use/exposure to cleaning chemicals, exposure to dust, and potential exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens; Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures must be utilized as required.
• Able to function in an environment with substantial latex and/or nitrile material exposure and without an allergic reaction.
• Ability to effectively listen and perceive the nature of sounds and spoken words at normal speaking levels with or without correction.

Education and Experience Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

• Highschool Diploma, GED, or equivalent of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired.
• Experience with furniture moving or setup experience
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to meet the college's insurance carrier requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of custodial experience preferred.
• One year of furniture moving and setups
