Primary Care Medical Assistant

Find Your Calling At Mercy!Under the direction of the primary care operations team, the Primary Care Patient Certified MA works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care in a systematic way. The Primary Care Patient Care Certified MA will partner with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients. Duties and responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.Position Details:Minimum QualificationsEducation:• High school diploma or equivalent.• New hire must attend MA Clinic Academy training.• Must have completed all MA CompetenciesCertification:• Must actively maintain MA certification.• Caregivers must actively maintain their certification, or they will be transitioned to the Medical Assistant title.• Caregivers can be hired as a Certified Medical Assistant if they are a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant.Additional minimum requirement(s) only for Hospital Outpatient DepartmentsCertification(s): BLS (Basic Life Support)Preferred Qualifications:Experience: One year of applicable patient care experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.Education: Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant programPreferred requirement (s) for non-HOD Clinics:Certification(s) : BLS (Basic Life Support)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Complete Advanced Standard Rooming with overall achievement >= 90% for the last 6 months including:AWV questionnaire and documentation.Thorough Medication ReconciliationClosing all open care gaps as indicated Encounter Guide (Fall Risk, Depression, Breast Cancer Screening, Colorectal Cancer Screening, and Diabetes Eye Exam)Blood Pressure Recheck for patients with elevated initial blood pressure readingCompletion of Patient Experience Conversation• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Proficiency with EHR systems and clinical documentation.• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.• Knowledge of common outpatient procedures and equipment.• Commitment to patient-centered care and professional growth.• Demonstrates knowledge of varying differences and behaviors among populations served.Work Environment:• Outpatient clinical setting with frequent patient interaction.• Requires standing, walking, lifting, and use of clinical equipment.• Potential exposure to infectious materials; PPE provided.Physical Requirements :• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.Why Mercy?From day one, Mercy offers outstanding benefits - including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, tuition support, and matched retirement plans for team members working 32+ hours per pay period.Join a caring, collaborative team where your voice matters.
