Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized postoperative care to patients recovering from various surgical procedures in the PACU. Ensure patient stability, manage pain, and educate patients and families on postoperative protocols for optimal recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough postoperative assessments and continuously monitor patient recovery in the PACU.
• Administer pain management and implement recovery protocols according to established guidelines.
• Educate patients and their families on postoperative care instructions, medication management, and follow-up appointments.
• Manage and interpret telemetry readings, including ECG strips, to detect cardiac issues.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including anesthesia and respiratory therapy, to ensure patient safety.
• Adhere to documentation standards using EMR systems transitioning from Cerner to Epic.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year of PACU experience in a hospital setting.
• Proven experience with ventilator management in postoperative care.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Ability to manage multiple patients efficiently while maintaining high-quality care.
