We are integrating state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions into mission-critical systems to ensure resilience, integrity, and continued superiority under the sea and across domains.THE WORKAs a Cyber Systems Security Engineer, you will take a leadership role in enhancing cybersecurity across SWFTS (Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems). You’ll drive the development and integration of modern cyber solutions that protect and empower critical Department of Defense (DoD) assets.Key responsibilities include:Designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to protect system confidentiality, integrity, and availabilityLeverage guidance from Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Requirements Guides (SRG), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) to advance cyber controls in a system security architectureIntegrating secure configuration tools and processes for Linux and Windows environmentsPerforming security assessments and validating configurations through automated testing and tailored solutionsCollaborating across teams on secure system and network design that balances mission goals and cyber protectionLeading technical meetings, translating security requirements into actionable engineering tasks, and mentoring team membersPlease note:This position is located in Manassas, VA.This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance at the Secret level.WHO WE AREWe are a mission-driven organization built on collaboration, innovation, and impact. From day one, you’ll be part of something bigger: protecting what matters most.Basic Qualifications:A Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering or IT field with 3 years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant cyber experience; Or 7 years of relevant experience.Experience with Linux systems and large system developmentExperience with basic networking switch/router/firewall/IDS conceptsExperience developing Cyber Security Solutions (in any form) as a teamDesired Skills:Knowledge of containers and securing the infrastructure through the cloudExperience in agile methodologies that highlight Atlassian tools, namely Jira and ConfluenceExperience in model-based system engineering concepts (MBSE)Experience in researching new Cybersecurity capabilities, performing trade studies, and providing expertise to peers and leadership.Proficiency with Cyber best practice security concepts, models, and methods, (e.g., zero trust architecture and maturity model, advanced authentication methods, STIG coding practices)Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal members and external customersCreative thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and a continuous learning mindsetLinux experience in scripting and/or development, e.g. Python, C, C++, RustStrong communication and leadership skills to engage internal teams and external stakeholdersPossess (or must obtain within 6 months of hiring) an approved DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level II (Security+, GSEC, etc.)Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.Clearance Level: SecretOther Important Information You Should KnowExpression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
