Long-Term Substitute School Counselor - Brookfield High School

Brookfield High School is seeking a qualified Long-Term Substitute School Counselor to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students
• Assist with course selection, academic planning, and goal setting
• Support student adjustment, well-being, and decision-making
• Collaborate with staff, families, and community resources
• Monitor student progress and assist with post-secondary planning

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. Qualified Candidates must have a current and valid CT Certification (Endorsement - 068, School Counselor)
2. A Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in School Counseling, including course work in child, adolescent and adult psychology, nature of learning, personality development, sociology, clinical testing, administration/supervision, diagnosis and correction of learning difficulties, applied research, test construction and interpretation, curriculum design and evaluation.
3. Ability to communicate at all levels with students, adults and professionals (teachers, support personnel, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians).

Compensation:

• BA Step 1 of the Teachers' Contract

Approximate length of assignment:

• September 2026 to January 2027*
