Speech-Language Pathologist - Research

Position Overview This role is part of a cochlear implant research team studying language outcomes in children with typical hearing and hearing loss. The staff member evaluates language development and participates in research activities using evidence‑based methods. Essential Job Functions Evaluate each research subject’s language in Spanish and/or English development using standard measures and best practice following applicable research protocols. Participate in recruitment of research subjects and obtain consent for study participation. Assist in scheduling and coordination of research speech and language evaluations. Participate in medical record data abstraction for research. Participate in evaluation of children undergoing non‑invasive neuroimaging research evaluations. Participate in clinics, audiology, cochlear implant team meetings relevant to translational research on hearing and language development, as assigned. Upgrade own knowledge in research practices and protocols. Actively participate in in‑services, including planning educational activities for the team as assigned. Meet required research team productivity standards. Participate in supervision/instruction of students as assigned. Participate in orientation of new staff and support staff as assigned. Support organizational change initiatives; adapt to a rapidly changing health care environment. Perform job functions adhering to service principles with a customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to patients, families, co‑workers and others. Other job functions as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Successful graduation from an accredited Speech‑Language program. Current License or proof of eligibility and submission for license in the State of Illinois. Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association within first 90 days of start. Certification in CPR from the American Heart Association by having completed the BLS AED Heartsaver Course. Bilingual: Spanish preferred. Education & Pay Pay Range: $76,960.00 – $125,840.00.
