Added - 09/02/26 ASL Interpreter (SLI) King County , Washington | Contract - Local Or Location: Kent, WA | King County School District: Kent School District Schedule: Monday–Friday | School Hours Setting: K–12 School-Based Employment Type: Contract / School-Based Pay: $47-51/hr Help Every Student Have a Voice ATC Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide communication support for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) students within Kent School District in King County, Washington . The ASL Interpreter will provide accurate, timely, and culturally competent interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language, helping ensure students have full access to classroom instruction, school activities, peers, teachers, and support services. Responsibilities As a School-Based ASL Interpreter, you will: Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, meetings, school activities, and other student interactions Facilitate communication between DHH students, teachers, peers, administrators, and other school professionals Review lesson plans, educational materials, technical terminology, and other information in preparation for assignments Support students' equitable participation in their educational environment Collaborate with teachers, case managers, special education teams, clinicians, and administrators Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and student confidentiality Follow the RID Code of Professional Conduct and applicable Washington State interpreter standards Complete service logs, documentation, and district reporting requirements as needed Promote communication access while respecting Deaf culture and student independence Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Washington State Department of Health Sign Language Interpreter License or eligibility to obtain required licensure Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language Ability to accurately interpret between spoken English and ASL Ability to work effectively in an academic and K–12 environment Strong communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills Ability to meet all Kent School District and ATC Healthcare credentialing, background, and health requirements Preferred Qualifications EIPA score of 3.5 or higher , particularly for K–12 educational settings RID certification such as NIC, CDI, or equivalent Previous school-based or educational interpreting experience Experience working with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals Knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture Familiarity with accessibility requirements and educational accommodations Experience working collaboratively with special education and multidisciplinary teams Knowledge of trauma-informed communication practices Why Join ATC Healthcare?
