RN Emergency Room Charge Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) Charge Nurse role is responsible for providing advanced nursing care and leadership during night shifts. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and coordination of care in a fast-paced ER setting. The nurse will ensure effective communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. A minimum of 3 years of experience along with active California RN license and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room during night shifts.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and develop treatment plans.
• Serve as Charge Nurse, coordinating nursing staff and managing patient flow.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information and care provided.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergencies and provide critical care interventions as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in California.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months of contract start date.
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in Emergency Room or critical care settings.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience serving as a Charge Nurse or in a leadership role within an ER.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and hospital information systems.
• Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or trauma care.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift position, working from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Must be able to work three 12-hour shifts weekly, totaling 36 hours guaranteed.
• Compliance with hospital infection control and safety protocols.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress emergency room environment.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Shift assignments and scheduling coordinated with nursing management.
