Description What You’ll Get Bonus Program Training through John Deere University Tool Reimbursement A comprehensive employee benefits plan that includes medical, dental, vision, and 401K Match Referral Bonus Earned PTO Employee Assistance Program Paid Company holidays Company Paid Life Insurance Great Work/Life Balance Opportunities for advancement Job Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday – Friday 1st shift – Saturdays as needed United Construction & Forestry is looking for a Field Service Technician responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial, construction, forestry, milling, and paving equipment, generally independently and outside the actual conformities of the shop. *Preference will be given to candidates who currently reside on Martha’s Vineyard, including Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven (Tisbury), and West Tisbury.* What You’ll Do Reads job order and observes and listens to equipment in operation to determine malfunction and plans work procedures Installs fuel injection nozzles and pumps, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions, hydraulic systems and component parts Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on equipment, and makes adjustments Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings. Removes, replaces, and repairs tires, undercarriages, and earth moving and timber harvesting attachments, milling, and paving attachments Enters a legible description of work performed onto the work orders Maintains and cares for the shop tools and equipment Ensure work is performed safely and safe work procedures are followed throughout the department Reads schematics denoting operating specifications for unit or component and type of evaluation required Continues to work on revenue producing work as needed Tests unit for conformance with operating requirements such as specified horsepower and lifting performance Help ensure that our new and used whole goods are in good working conditions Maintains assigned service vehicle in areas of cleanliness, daily maintenance and inspections Complies with all state laws while operating company vehicle Requirements What It Takes Must own and maintain their own tools (specialty tools provided by dealership) Basic computer skills Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions Able to work a varying work schedule/shift and be flexible to respond to after-hour calls Strong customer service skills Excellent oral communication and written skills Strong organizational skills Preferred Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Heavy Equipment license Education High school diploma or GED Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
