Phlebotomist

Overview This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent. Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8am‑5pm. Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent. Job code: CVDJP00034863. Benefits are available. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, and record maintenance data. Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. Assist in troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations. Collect, store, and package specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients. Use straight needles and/or butterfly needles for venipuncture. Match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and perform labeling, centrifugation, splitting, and freezing as required by test order. Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness. Store specimen samples at required temperatures and in appropriate containers. Follow specified protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification in the state of employment, as required by state law. Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced laboratory or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED.
