CLINICAL STAFFING RESOURCES Connecting qualified healthcare professionals with the schools and facilities that need them School Nurse (RN) Registered Nurse • Per Diem, Contract & Full-Time 26-27 Opportunities Position School Nurse — Registered Nurse (RN) Department School Health Services / Clinical Staffing Reports To Director of Nursing / School Administration & CSR Staffing Manager Employment Type Per Diem, Contract, or Full-Time (school-year); flexible scheduling available Schedule School hours, Monday–Friday during the academic year; per diem shifts as assigned Setting Public, private, and charter schools (Pre-K through Grade 12) Locations Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess & surrounding NY communities Position Summary Clinical Staffing Resources is seeking compassionate, dependable Registered Nurses to serve as School Nurses across our partner schools. In this role, you are the primary healthcare provider on campus—responsible for the daily health, safety, and well-being of students and staff. You will deliver direct nursing care, manage chronic and acute health conditions, administer medications, respond to emergencies, and promote a healthy learning environment. We offer flexible per diem, contract, and full-time school-year placements, so you can build a schedule that fits your life while making a meaningful difference in your community. Key Responsibilities Assessment & direct care: Provide nursing assessment, first aid, and treatment for illness and injury; triage student health concerns and determine appropriate care or referral. Medication administration: Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, maintaining proper documentation and adhering to physician orders and state regulations. Chronic condition management: Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for students with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, and severe allergies. Emergency response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, administer emergency medications (e.g., epinephrine, glucagon), and coordinate with EMS as needed. Screenings & compliance: Conduct mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, BMI) and maintain compliance with state immunization and health-record requirements. Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and district policies. Infection control: Implement infection-control and communicable-disease protocols; advise on prevention and reporting. Care coordination: Communicate with parents/guardians, physicians, school staff, and administrators regarding student health needs and care plans. Health education: Promote wellness through health education and guidance for students, families, and staff. Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York (or eligibility to obtain). Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent). Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience; pediatric, school, or community-health experience preferred. Completed health clearance, current immunizations, and ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting as required for school settings. Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Prior school nurse or pediatric experience. NY State School Nurse Certification (where applicable). Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work is performed in a school health office and throughout school facilities. The role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting or assisting students. Nurses must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and remain calm under pressure.
