General/Interventional Radiologist Opportunity

Opening for General/Interventional Radiologist in the Myrtle Beach area, SC. The facility handles over 138,000 annual radiology cases including 34,000 computed tomography, 57,000+ general diagnostic, 360 IR, 10,000 MRI, 16,000 mammography's, 800+ nuclear studies, 500+ PET's, and 13,000+ ultrasounds.

Employment agreement offers an annual base compensation of $800,000+. Sign-on bonus of $100,000 available. The initial focus is 80% general and 20% interventional procedures, with plans to expand interventional radiology over time.

Responsibilities include providing timely consultation to emergency medicine physicians, general surgeons, and other specialists regarding diagnostic and therapeutic options for trauma and non-trauma patients. Conducting pre-procedural patient assessment and post-procedural management and follow-up. In a community hospital setting, the IR may also be required to interpret general diagnostic imaging studies (X-rays, CTs, MRIs, ultrasound) as part of a mixed practice.

Participating in the hospital's quality monitoring and improvement programs, including the review of trauma cases and adherence to protocols. The primary role is to assist in the diagnosis and control of life-threatening hemorrhage using minimally invasive techniques, particularly crucial for hemodynamically stable (or even select unstable) patients to potentially avoid or optimize open surgery.

Specific procedures include angioembolization, catheter-based interventions, drainage procedures, biopsies (needle breast biopsy), diagnostic mammography, tomosynthesis, vascular interventions, gastrostomy tube placement, nuclear medicine, coronary CT angiography (CCTA), PET/CT imagining reading, and MRI reading.

Relocation assistance of $25,000 and $90.00 per wRVU above base target bonus potential are available. Call is flexible.
