CAD/CAM Automation Engineer

Job Purpose:
The CAD/CAM Automation Engineer will be responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency by integrating automation, robotics, machine connectivity, and digital production systems throughout a dental laboratory. This role will bridge the gap between dental manufacturing, engineering, and emerging technologies to create scalable and repeatable workflows.
The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD/CAM equipment, industrial automation, robotics, machine integration, and process optimization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement automation solutions for dental manufacturing processes.
- Integrate milling machines, 3D printers, scanners, and other production equipment into efficient workflows.
- Research robotic systems for material handling, machine loading and unloading, and production automation.
- Create standardized workflows to reduce labor, increase productivity, and improve quality.
- Develop machine-to-machine communication and data collection systems.
- Collaborate with CAD designers, technicians, and management to identify automation opportunities.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
- Analyze production bottlenecks and implement engineering solutions.
- Work with software vendors and equipment manufacturers to optimize workflows.
- Support future AI, automation, and smart-manufacturing initiatives.
Requirements
- Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CAD/CAM manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of automation and process engineering.
- Experience troubleshooting production equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
- Familiarity with milling systems and 3D printing technologies.
