The MDP team owns Snap’s end-to-end media infrastructure from recording, editing, transcoding, uploading, media management, replication, storage, CDN, streaming to playback across mobile and backend. You will lead the client media platform team within MDP to power all on-device media infrastructure.What you’ll do:Manage and mentor a team of mobile developers with deep media expertises, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environmentSet the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliverCollaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholdersEvaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentorHire, grow and retain high-performing team membersUtilize AI tools and high velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while upholding rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production ready quality codeKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Background with building high performant and reliable media systems, including optimizations ranging from video player to video playback UI/UXExperience with leading an engineering teamAbility leading and executing large, complex technical initiativesProficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practicesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience9+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 3+ years of post-grad software development experience1+ years of experience managing a teamExperience with distributed systems and web developmentPreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with the driving large scale initiatives from ideation to completionTrack record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environmentsExperience with Ops-heavy systems/productsIf you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.Default Together Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
