Job Description Loyal Source Government Services is looking for a full-time Occupational Health Physician to provide services to Edwards Air Force Base. Job Summary : The Occupational Health Physician provides occupational medicine services, evaluates work-related injuries and illnesses, and conducts required medical examinations at Edwards Air Force Base supporting military employee health, workplace safety, and workforce readiness.
Pay Rate: $145/ hr Duties :
• Serves as a Physician to provide Occupational Medicine services to employees in various occupations, of various ages, and with various health issues. Independently performs occupational physical examinations of various types including pre-placement, medical surveillance, medical qualification, disability retirement, fitness for duty, and any other special employee examinations that may be required or requested by authorized entities.
• Coordinates with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care to employees, taking into account factors such as new and emerging procedures and techniques and the individual's medical and occupational history, as well as information gained through diagnostic tests.
• Provide guidance to employees on workplace hazards and exam results. Notifies management of exam results and recommends appropriate work restrictions and accommodations. Applies new procedures in the evaluation and treatment of complex work-related cases and conducts research for the advancement of the Occupational Medicine program and for quality improvement.
• Interprets ancillary test results for evidence of possible occupational disease or confounding personal health conditions, including but not limited to, interpretation of complete blood counts, blood chemistry panels for renal, hepatic, toxic or metabolic conditions, pulmonary function tests, EKGs, plain film X-rays, and audiograms.
• Diagnoses and appropriately consults for follow-up evaluations for conditions discovered as a result of the occupational medical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats on-the-job illnesses and injuries and stabilizes and transfers those suffering from urgent or potentially life threatening illnesses and injuries.
• Assists in self-care transfer activities. Documents all examinations conducted and treatment provided, ensuring accuracy and adequacy of the health records. Participates in continuing education programs to update and maintain skills.
• Serves as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and boards.
• Assists in the development and provides support in medical surveillance and medical qualification programs. Participates in committees and meetings that evaluate the care provided to patients at the MTF, identifies opportunities to change the care delivered,
advises on difficult or complex cases, and recommends corrective action when problems exist.
• Participates in performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and makes recommendations on improvement of work methods and organizational features.
• Conducts periodic worksite visits to evaluate and gain familiarity with workplace hazards and adequacy of controls. Performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to maintain statistical records of clinical workload.
• Participate in monthly meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.
• Participate in the provision of monthly in-service training to non-healthcare practitioner members of the clinical and administrative staff on subjects germane to pharmacy services.
• Assist in maintaining medical records, respecting confidentiality, and standard MTF protocols.
• Provide training and /or guidance to support government employees' performance of clinical procedures. Such guidance and interaction will adhere to government professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocol. Qualification(s):
• Degree: Doctor of Medicine MD
• Education: Graduate from an accredited academic program
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates
• Experience: Must have at least two years of experience to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a physician
