divh2Bus Driver Trainer/h2pThe job of the Bus Driver Trainer is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities, while also serving as a DPS certified instructor in compliance with Department of Public Safety (DPS) regulations. This position provides instruction and training to new and current bus drivers in the classroom, during pre-trip/post-trip inspections (PPT), and behind-the-wheel, ensuring adherence to all state, federal, and district transportation policies and safety standards./ppThis job reports to Director of Transportation./ppEssential Functions:/ppDriving Responsibilities:/pp Operate a school bus on a designated route, following all traffic laws and district policies./pp Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues./pp Maintain order and safety on the bus, ensuring students follow established rules./pp Safely load and unload students, including those with special needs, using appropriate procedures./pp Respond appropriately to emergency situations on the bus./ppTraining Responsibilities:/pp Deliver DPS-certified classroom instruction for new and current drivers, ensuring full compliance with Arizona DPS curriculum requirements./pp Conduct hands-on Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspection (PPT) training, emphasizing regulatory compliance and safety standards./pp Provide behind-the-wheel instruction, coaching new drivers on proper driving techniques, safety protocols, and route navigation./pp Evaluate trainee performance and readiness for certification or route assignment./pp Maintain accurate training records and submit necessary documentation to the Training/Referral Coordinator./pp Assist in organizing and leading in-service training sessions and safety meetings./pp Monitor and mentor newly licensed drivers during probationary periods./ppOther Functions:/pp Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities./ppSkills and Abilities:/pp Strong communication and interpersonal skills./pp Ability to instruct, motivate, and evaluate adult learners./pp Thorough knowledge of traffic laws, school bus regulations, and DPS training standards./pp Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team./pp Proficient in recordkeeping and reporting training outcomes./ppWorking Conditions:/pp Exposure to varying weather conditions./pp Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs./pp Flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional evenings/weekends for training./ppQualifications:/pulliRequired:/liulliAlcohol and Drug Test/liliPre-placement Physical Exam/liliPre-Placement Position Knowledge Review/liliArizona DPS Certified School Bus Driver/liliValid Arizona Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements./liliDPS-certified Classroom Instructor and/or/liliDPS-certified PPT Trainer and/or/liliDPS-certified Behind-the-Wheel Instructor/liliMinimum of 1 years of experience as a school bus driver/liliClean driving record and ability to pass a criminal justice fingerprint/background check and drug screening/li/ul/ulpThis is a 10 month School Year position only./p/div
