RN Interventional Radiology

The Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) provides specialized nursing care to adult inpatients and outpatients undergoing interventional radiology procedures including biopsies, embolizations, ablations, angiography, and drain placements. This role involves patient preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure recovery including PACU and extended stay care. The IR RN is a vital member of the trauma embolization response team and collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art environment. Strong critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting are essential. Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures and provide intra-procedure care.
• Provide post-procedure recovery care including PACU and extended stay (23-hour) monitoring.
• Participate as a critical member of the embolization response team for trauma patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols, including wearing hospital-issued and laundered scrubs.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and communicate patient status effectively.

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience, including at least one year recent experience in Interventional Radiology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry experience.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system in interventional radiology or related specialty within the past year.
• Additional certifications or training related to interventional radiology nursing.

• Must wear hospital-issued and laundered scrub pants and tops in procedural areas as part of infection prevention measures.
• Work includes weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed by the unit.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
• Four 10-hour shifts per week (4x10hr schedule).
• Rotating day and night shifts.
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage required per unit needs.
