Job Description

CDR General Services is seeking an experienced Crane Operator to join our team in Belle Chasse, LA . The ideal candidate will have experience operating cranes in shipyard, marine, industrial, or heavy construction environments and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork. This position requires the ability to safely perform lifting operations in a fast-paced shipyard environment.

Location: Belle Chasse, LA
Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour or more (DOE)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Responsibilities

Safely operate cranes to lift, move, position, and place heavy materials, equipment, engines, pipes, metal structures, and ship components.
Perform lifting operations in confined spaces and around obstacles common in shipyard and marine environments.
Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure cranes are in safe working condition.
Communicate effectively by radio with supervisors, riggers, signal persons, and deck personnel during lifting operations.
Follow lift plans and ensure all loads are properly rigged before movement.
Perform lifts in accordance with OSHA regulations, HSE procedures, and company safety policies.
Monitor crane performance and report any mechanical issues or unsafe conditions.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting daily shipyard operations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of crane operating experience in a shipyard, marine, industrial, or heavy construction environment.
Experience performing heavy lifting operations involving structural steel, ship components, equipment, and industrial materials.
Knowledge of safe rigging practices and crane operating procedures.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, HSE standards, and industrial safety requirements.
Ability to operate cranes safely in confined spaces and challenging work environments.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with riggers, supervisors, and other team members.
Crane Operator Certification preferred.
Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work in a physically demanding environment.
