Duties:


• To assist the Dentist in providing dental services to all patients by: • Preparing and arranging instruments, medications and required material. • Preparing patients for dental health services and instructing them in appropriate post dental treatment, diet and oral hygiene. • Promptly following all instructions from the dentist dealing with patient comfort. • Taking inventory, stocking all supplies, instruments and medications and the ordering of said items. • Exposing developing and processing dental x-rays and maintenance of x-ray. • Performing required laboratory procedures, i.e., taking dental impressions, pouring plaster models, etc. • Being familiar with and using four handed assisting technique. • Maintaining dental equipment and operatories in good, clean condition at all times. • Maintain the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/disinfect protocols per OSHA guidelines. • Cross-training in other dental support positions as necessary, i.e., endo periodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery and sterilization. • Maintain personnel protection per OSHA guidelines as it pertains to personnel safety, i.e., protective clothing, eyewear, gloves. • To Participate in in-service training, department and general staff meetings and clinics. • Basic oral hygiene instruction and coronal polishing on patients. • Additional duties as assigned by the Dental Director as it pertains to the Dental Department.

Qualifications:


• High School diploma or equivalent. • Possession of a valid State of California Registered Dental Assistant License. • Completion of a dental assist training academic program, or • 1-2 years of experience. (references required)
